Napoleon’s CFO returns to work after paid vacation

Kevin Garringer was placed on leave on Oct. 21 “while an investigation was conducted into a matter involving the finance department.”

NAPOLEON, Ohio – The City of Napoleon’s chief financial officer is back at work just days after being placed on paid administrative leave, according to Council President John Ross Durham.

Kevin Garringer was placed on leave on Oct. 21 “while an investigation was conducted into a matter involving the finance department.” He was cleared to return to work on Oct. 25, according to a news release from Durham.

The city’s human resources director said WTOL 11’s request for Garringer’s personnel and disciplinary files was too broad. WTOL 11 has made a more specific request and is awaiting a response.

Durham provided the following statement in an October 25 press release:

Napoleon City Council takes all claims seriously and believes it is necessary to protect the integrity of our city and the individuals involved.

The decision was made with careful consideration to ensure a fair and impartial investigation process while protecting all parties involved. After conducting our due diligence, we are pleased to announce that we have full confidence in Kevin’s return to his role as CFO for the City of Napoleon. Napoleon City Council stands firmly behind him and appreciates his unwavering professionalism and cooperation throughout this process.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to Kevin for his dedication and commitment to the City of Napoleon during this time. We look forward to his return and his continued management of our financial operations.
